BAFC is a community football club situated on Louis Botha Ave in Highlands North, Johannesburg.
BAFC is a non-profit organisation and relies solely on subscriptions, donations and fund –raising activities to run and manage the Club. The grounds on which the club is situated are leased from the municipality at a nominal rate per annum
Soccer is by far the most popular sport in South Africa and is enjoyed by a large percentage of the population. For most of the players at BAFC, weekly training and matches on the weekends, is something that gives the players a sense of belonging. To belong to a team and to represent BAFC is a privilege that many of the players would not give up to anything. Many of them arrive long before practice and are often the last to leave the Club
BAFC focuses on the specific and holistic development of soccer players, taking into account every aspect that influences a soccer player’s gowth. We aim to provide our members with the best of everything necessary to attain greatness in soccer, whilst at the same time realising that we are dealing with young and innocent boys and girls who often need special consideration and care.
It is also the intention of the executive management of BAFC to introduce life-skills training as an aside to soccer training in order to give our underprivileged members at the club the necessary life –skills to one day venture into the ‘big wide world’
For example, we aim to give them lectures on the importance of health and hygiene, nutrition, prevention of HIV and general basic commercial skills.
BAFC has been training and developing young soccer players from the surrounding communities for over 50 years. One of the primary objectives of BAFC is to make available to all young footballers in the area, and particularly from Alexandra, a safe and secure professional environment in which to grow and develop their individual football skills
Our aim is to develop these players from five years old and to give them the skills, abilities and opportunities and that if they are talented enough, to one day play professional football both locally and abroad. There are very few comparable soccer clubs open to the general public that are able to provide the top quality training, development and support that BAFC offers.
